Looks like Akai has announced release of a smaller stepchild version of the APC40 called, the APC20.  Likely they wished to more directly compete against the Novation Launchpad and the Livid Instruments Block.

Also announced at Winter NAMM was an iPhone app called Synth Station, the iPK25 Keyboard which you dock your iPhone into (?), and the MPD26 Controller.
